Why I built this

The Bible is the most influential book ever written. It's also one of the most intimidating to actually sit down and study.

Not because it's beyond understanding. But because most people come to it without context, without knowing what questions to ask, and without the tools to find answers grounded in the actual text. They read a chapter, feel like they half-understood it, and move on.

I built ScriptureDepth because I believe Scripture is worth the effort of real engagement. Every person who wants to understand the Bible more deeply deserves more than a surface-level reading plan. I wanted something that lowers the barrier to that kind of depth, without requiring a seminary degree or an expensive software subscription.

Who writes ScriptureDepth

Henry Evemilje · Editor

Henry Evemilje is a pen name. Behind it is one editor in Bergen, Norway, who is responsible for everything published here; the research is AI-assisted and the judgment is human.

I am that editor. I use a pen name for privacy, not to seem like someone I am not; the organisation number is on the legal pages, and I answer every message myself. AI does the research and the first drafts. I check the verse references against the World English Bible text, the translation this site publishes, edit what the drafts say, choose the picks in the buying guides, and own the mistakes. The 1,189 chapter studies are checked with automated gates plus spot reads, not a full read of every chapter, so errors get through. When a reader shows me one, I fix it and list it on the corrections page. If you find one, write to hello@scripturedepth.com.

How I use AI

ScriptureDepth uses AI to power the Bible study chat and to draft the chapter summaries and topic studies across the whole Bible. The full account is on the How we use AI page.

I take accuracy seriously. The AI is instructed to cite specific verses for every theological claim, acknowledge where Christians hold different interpretations, and be honest when a question goes beyond what Scripture directly addresses. It quotes only the World English Bible text it is handed, and it will not present speculation as biblical fact.

It is clearly an AI. It says so. It is a study aid, not a pastor, not a community, and not a substitute for your church, your faith community, or pastoral guidance. I built it to help you go deeper, not to replace the human relationships and spiritual practices that matter most.

What this site holds, and what it leaves to you

ScriptureDepth holds that Scripture is authoritative and reliable and stands inside historic Christian faith. It belongs to no denomination. Where traditions differ (baptism, the end times, spiritual gifts, predestination) the pages show more than one reading and say so. It will not answer for your church, your pastor or your conscience.
