How to use: read 1 Chronicles 12 aloud together, then take the questions in order. One page is enough for an evening.

Overview

David's mighty men gathered at Ziklag, aiding him while he was a fugitive from Saul (vv. 1-2). The text names several warriors, including Ahiezer and Joash, who were skilled in battle and part of Saul's lineage (vv. 3-7). Some mighty men from the tribe of Gad joined David in the wilderness, described as swift and strong (vv. 8-14). When the Jordan overflowed, these men courageously crossed to assist David (vv. 15-22). The text lists numerous warriors who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul's kingdom over to him, totaling thousands from various tribes including Judah, Ephraim, and Manasseh (vv. 23-32). It concludes with a description of how the men celebrated with David for three days, enjoying plentiful provisions shared by their brothers (vv. 33-40).
