Psalm 127: Group Study Handout

How to use: read Psalm 127 aloud together, then take the questions in order. One page is enough for an evening.

Overview

Yahweh must build the house or those who labor do so in vain (v. 1). Even the watchman’s vigilance is pointless if Yahweh does not protect the city. Rising early and staying up late to toil is also futile; Yahweh provides rest to those he loves (v. 2). Children are a heritage from Yahweh, seen as a reward for parents (v. 3). Like arrows in a warrior's hand, children strengthen a man’s position (v. 4). A man with many children is happy and will not be ashamed when facing adversaries (vv. 5).
