Psalm 28: Group Study Handout

How to use: read Psalm 28 aloud together, then take the questions in order. One page is enough for an evening.

Overview

The psalmist calls out to Yahweh, asking Him not to be deaf to his cries for help (vv. 1-2). He lifts his hands toward the Most Holy Place, seeking a response. In a plea against the wicked, the psalmist asks Yahweh not to draw him away with those who speak peace but harbor mischief in their hearts (vv. 3-5). He requests that they receive according to their wickedness, as they do not respect Yahweh’s works. The psalmist then praises Yahweh for hearing his petitions (vv. 6-8). He recognizes Yahweh as his strength and shield, expressing trust in Him. The psalmist also acknowledges Yahweh as the strength for His anointed. Finally, he prays for Yahweh to save His people, bless their inheritance, and shepherd them forever (v. 9).
