Psalm 94: Group Study Handout

Overview

Yahweh is called upon to bring vengeance against the proud and the wicked (vv. 1-2). The psalmist laments how long the wicked will triumph and notes their arrogance and harm done to God's people (vv. 3-7). Those who are foolish are urged to consider their actions, as God hears and sees all (vv. 8-11). There is a blessing for those whom Yahweh disciplines and teaches through His law, offering rest in times of trouble (vv. 12-15). The psalmist expresses a crisis of faith, relying on God as a help during distress (vv. 16-19). The psalmist questions if wickedness could stand in fellowship with God, noting the gathering of the wicked against the righteous (vv. 20-22). Ultimately, Yahweh will bring justice upon the wicked through their own actions (v. 23).
