October 11

Sunday, October 11, 2026 — today

“Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.”

Psalm 107:28-30 (WEB)

Finding Calm in the Storm

In Psalm 107, the psalmist recounts various situations where people, in distress, cry out to Yahweh and find deliverance. Before verses 28-30, there are descriptions of those saved from wilderness, darkness, chains, and affliction; after, the psalmist praises God's enduring goodness. In these verses, the transformation from chaos to calm stands out. The sequence of crying to Yahweh, experiencing calm, and reaching a desired haven highlights the journey from turmoil to peace. Reflect on a time when you've felt the storm in your life calm down. Consider setting aside a moment today to express gratitude for a specific 'haven' you have been brought to.
