“Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (WEB)

Renewed Day by Day

In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul speaks to the believers in Corinth about the trials faced in ministry, emphasizing the power of God revealed through human frailty and urging a focus on eternal truths. In verses 16-18, he contrasts the decay of the 'outward man' with the daily renewal of the 'inward man,' highlighting the temporary nature of visible afflictions against the eternal weight of unseen glory. Today, consider taking a moment to list things you perceive as eternal and those that are temporary, reflecting on how this perspective might influence your daily life.
