“Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun. For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.”

Valuing Wisdom's Shelter
In Ecclesiastes 7, the Preacher reflects on the value of wisdom compared to other aspects of life, speaking to those who seek understanding and offering insights on the nature of wisdom, folly, and righteousness. The verse highlights wisdom's dual role as both an inheritance and a protective defense, like money, yet it emphasizes that wisdom uniquely preserves life. This comparison elevates wisdom's role beyond material wealth. Consider today how you might view wisdom as a form of defense in your daily decisions and interactions. Reflect on a situation where wisdom helped you preserve something important in your life.
