Isaiah 33: Group Study Handout

How to use: read Isaiah 33 aloud together, then take the questions in order. One page is enough for an evening.

Overview

Woe is proclaimed to those who destroy and betray, as they will themselves face destruction and betrayal (vv. 1-2). The people cry out for Yahweh's grace. He is exalted, filling Zion with justice and righteousness. There will be stability, and the fear of Yahweh will be their treasure (vv. 3-6). The valiant cry out in despair, and the land mourns as Yahweh announces that He will arise to enact judgment (vv. 7-10). The people will face the consequences of their actions. The righteous, who walk blamelessly and refuse oppression, will dwell securely with ample provision (vv. 11-17). The vision of a restored Jerusalem features a quiet habitation where the righteous will see Yahweh's majesty. The inhabitants will not suffer illness, for their iniquities will be forgiven (vv. 18-24).
