Psalm 53: Group Study Handout

How to use: read Psalm 53 aloud together, then take the questions in order. One page is enough for an evening.

Overview

The fool denies the existence of God, claiming in their heart, 'There is no God' (v. 1). The psalmist describes those who have become corrupt, asserting that no one does good (v. 3). God observes the children of men to see if anyone seeks Him (v. 2). The workers of iniquity lack knowledge and exploit the people without calling on God (v. 4). Despite their actions, they face fear where there should be none, for God has rejected them (v. 5). The psalmist longs for salvation to come from Zion, anticipating joy for Jacob and Israel when God restores His people from captivity (vv. 6).
