Colossians 2

"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority."

Colossians 2:9-10

Summary

In Colossians chapter 2, Paul continues to express his deep concern for the church in Colossae and the surrounding region, emphasizing the importance of being united in love and understanding the full riches of complete confidence in Christ. He warns against deceptive philosophies that rely on human tradition rather than Christ, stressing on the truth that in Christ all the fullness of the deity dwells bodily. Paul reminds them of their spiritual circumcision in Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism and raised through faith. He illustrates that through Christ, God forgave our sins, having canceled the legal indebtedness nailed to the cross, thereby triumphing over all spiritual authorities. As a result, believers should not be judged by religious observances such as dietary laws or festivals, for these are mere shadows of what is to come in Christ.
