Overview
Yahweh commands Jeremiah to buy a potter’s earthen bottle and take some elders of the people to the Valley of Hinnom (vv. 1-2). He instructs them to proclaim a message of judgment to the kings of Judah and the people of Jerusalem.

“Thus will I do to this place,” says Yahweh, “and to its inhabitants, even making this city as Topheth.”
