Nehemiah 12: Group Study Handout

Overview

The priests and Levites listed include Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, and others (vv. 1-7). Jeshua and others served among the Levites, with Mattaniah overseeing thanksgiving (vv. 8-9). Joiakim, Eliashib, Joiada, and others led the priests during this time (vv. 10-22). Historical records show the heads of households were documented, continuing until the days of Johanan (vv. 23-26). For the dedication ceremony, they gathered Levites and singers from nearby areas to celebrate with joy (vv. 27-30). The people, led by Nehemiah, divided into two processions, praising God as they walked along the wall (vv. 31-40). They rejoiced greatly with music and sacrifices, and their joy was heard from afar (vv. 41-43). Men were appointed to manage offerings for the priests and Levites, ensuring their needs were met (vv. 44-47).
