September 14

Monday, September 14, 2026 — today

“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (WEB)

Be a Beacon of Light

In Matthew 5, Jesus speaks to his disciples on a mountainside, teaching them about the Beatitudes and the importance of being the salt and light of the world. The verse emphasizes the visible nature of light, comparing believers to a city on a hill and a lamp that must shine for all to see. The instruction to let your light shine so others see and glorify God highlights the dual purpose of visibility and divine recognition. Today, consider one way to let your light shine in your community or household. It could be a simple act of kindness or a gesture that brings joy or comfort to someone else.
