Overview

Genesis chapter 29 recounts the journey of Jacob as he arrives in Haran and meets Rachel, the daughter of Laban. After a chance encounter at a well, Jacob, captivated by Rachel's beauty, is eager to serve Laban, her father, in exchange for her hand in marriage. Laban deceives Jacob, marrying him to Leah, Rachel's elder sister, first.
